Day 7-Isla de la plata

Today we have a few posts from some of the boys on the trip.  As you will read they are much more brief and to the point than our previous bloggers.  Also, they don't like being thirsty or stinging jellyfish. Read for yourself:

Today was amazing, we did a lot in the last few days... We landed in Miami, Florida and than flew off to Ecuador!! I was bright eyed and a smile ear to ear!! I couldn't wait to land. On that flight to Quito, Ecuador Mitch, Tristan, and Brice all fell asleep together and that was funny. Today we went to the Isla De La Plata and went snorkeling and got stung by some 'ol jellyfish. It was fun besides the fact that we all got stung by jellyfish.  It was fun. This trip has been the time of my life. This will be an experience that I will always remember. I wish we could stay even longer - that would be good.

On this day of the trip we went to Isla De La Plata, on Isla De La Plata we had a fairly short hike and after the hike we took the boat to an other part of the island for snorkeling. While the hike had a good view it was to hot and it ended up just being a race to the end of the path. On the hike we saw several different types of birds, the main bird we saw was the blue footed boobie, and the frigate. Along the hike we learned many interesting facts most of which I mostly couldn't repeat because all that was going through my head was "Why?" and "Where is the nearest water source that can be drunken" besides that I learned how to tell the difference between a male and female blue footed boobie which I can actually remember. After the hike we had a small lunch on the boat and started heading over to the location where we can go snorkeling. Once we arrived at the location to go snorkeling we jumped in and we found out there are a lot of jellyfish that were apparently harmless but the initial sting still hurt before and after you got stung. After the snorkeling incident we headed back to the main-land where we waited and left for another beach closer to the hotel. Once we got to the beach by the hotel we realized the the tide was coming in and we waited up by the shore with our stuff on a tree and eventually just left and headed back to the hotel.

Thanks to Mike and Victor for sharing their thoughts.

It was a pretty amazing day where we saw lots of new things. On our boat ride to the island we were surrounded by dolphins. After our hike on the island we were visited by some large tortoises. The students took the opportunity to read their notes from home tonight and it's hard to believe that we are going home in two days.

All the reports on a daily basis to family and friends are so so colorful, even those from students. What an amazing trip. I feel like being with all of you, even feeling tired and thirsty. The walking was at times hard work, but I made it. We got so close to each other and we became a family. The food was quite interesting, but still tasty. Unfortunately, soon I have to say Good bye to this wonderful place on earth, where we all saw and learned so much.
I'm so glad that you shared this wonderful trip with all of us here in Colorado. Soon, you will be flying home, but your hearts will still be in Ecuador, and it will always have a special place in your hearts. Thank you all for sharing your experiences, and the sharing will continue when you arrive back home. Have a safe flight until we see you again.
