Day 2: Panama City

Day 2: Panama City

Day 2 was another full day of exploring Panama city which means another full day of walking. The morning started with a visit to the Panama Viejo ruins. The ruins were awesome. They were also a great fist start to the trip as we learned a lot about the history of Panama. We even learned about pirates today!

After the ruins we made a short stop at the Biomuseo. Parents ask your students about the video at the start of the museum. It was really impressive. The museum is right at the entrance to the Panama Canal. We were able to see all the ships waiting their turn to enter the canal.

The afternoon was spend walking around Casco Viejo. Casco Viejo is the second city in a way. The original Panama city was attacked by pirates (Panama Viejo that we saw in the morning). After the attack the Spanish moved the city to a different location that offered better protection. Many of the students loved this part of the day because of the cultural experiences. We saw a small little soccer game, a student band performing as practice for their trip to NYC, and a local festival/concert.

Dinner was pizza! And then we made our way to the hotel for some swimming before bed. Tomorrow we spend the day on the Caribbean Sea.

We love all the comments keep them coming.

PS. I made a big travel mistake and forgot my camera battery charger. I hope to find a new one, but in the mean time I am taking few pictures to conserve my battery. : (

    May your travels be merry,
    May the sun shine bright.
    There's a blizzard at home,
    The snow is so white!

    Apollo and Nike
    miss having you here,
    But they can't read maps,
    And assume you are near.

    We hope you aren't embarrassed,
    Or red in the face.
We look forward to your updates,
    And seeing you in cyberspace.

Have fun on Day 3 Otto!!

Sam - I know you are majorly bummed you missed out on helping your brother shovel 6 inches of snow from the driveway this morning, but I bet you'd really like to have an ice cold snowball to hold against your neck and cool you off amidst the hot temps of Panama. ; ) Keep the terrific pics coming and we can't wait to hear about snorkeling today!
